Hello! My name is Kelli Gill, I’m a doctoral candidate in the Rhetoric and Composition program at Texas Christian University.

I'm a foodie that grew up poor. Which means I love a good macaron, I can pull a beautiful espresso shot, but I will also go to town on some pizza rolls and dollar tacos.

Food is one of the first ways I was introduced to other cultures (thank you to my foodie college town!), to gender roles (yep! I was expected to cook and clean during family functions), and  classism (didn't know what "real" butter was until I started watching the Food Network). When I started managing Instagram accounts for the restaurants I worked at, I got some first hand experience at visual design and learned how powerful food imagery can be and that is what largely inspired me to analyze it in my writing.

My work has been featured in publications such as Across the Disciplines, Double Helix, and Trace. I also created and run the scholarly website: FoodRhetoric.com, an open-access resource for learning and teaching at the intersection of food and writing.
